John Hannah (Dean of Chichester) : ウィキペディア英語版
John Hannah (Dean of Chichester)
Reverend Prebendary John Julius Hannah (1843 - 1 June 1931) was an Anglican priest〔(National Archives )〕 who was Dean of Chichester 1902-1929.
==Biography==
Hannah was the son of Rev. John Hannah, who had a distinguished career as clergyman in Brighton, and Anne Sophia Gregory (sister of Dr Gregory, Dean of St Paul's),〔“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991; ISBN 0-7136-3457-X〕 and was born in 1843. He was educated at Trinity College, Glenalmond and Balliol College, Oxford,〔''University Intelligence. Oxford, April 21. '' The Times Friday, Apr 23, 1869; pg. 12; Issue 26419; col B〕 and ordained Deacon in 1867 after a period of study at Ripon College Cuddesdon.〔"The Clergy List, Clerical Guide and Ecclesiastical Directory" London, John Phillips, 1900〕
Two years later he was ordained Priest and received his first post as curate at All Saints, Brill, then briefly served in Paddington in 1870. He moved to Brighton in 1871, where he was first Curate, then in 1873 was made Vicar of St Nicholas' Church (succeeding his father). In 1887 he was appointed Vicar and Rector of Brighton (St Peter's Church, Brighton), again succeeding his father, and thus occupied the chief position among Brighton clergy. He became at the same time Prebendary of Hove Ecclesia in Chichester Cathedral, and from 1895 Proctor in Convocation for the clergy of the archdeaconry of Lewes.
In January 1902 he was appointed Dean of Chichester, a post he held for 27 years.〔(National Church Institutions Database of Manuscripts and Archives )〕〔(London Gazette )〕
